Our Story
It all started in the year 2015 when Subhojit Basu attended a lecture by French national Nicolas Huchet, who is a right-hand amputee, on how he has developed his 3D printed electronic prosthetic hand at IIT Bombay Techfest. Inspired by Nicholas’ lecture, Subhojit did ground research and found that there is a need for such products in India.
Subhojit proposed the idea to develop a functional prosthetic hand [Bionic Arm] to Venture Center and raised the pre-PoC[proof-of-concept] grant. Using the grant the initial Electromyography [ EMG ] sensors were developed and a pre-POC was demonstrated using a robotic arm. A team was also put together to work on this project. As a derivate, an EEG sensor was also made and efforts were made at its commercialization. With the demonstrated pre-POC, an application was made to BIRAC’s BIG grant & was successfully secured.
As rightly said, every good initiative brings a good outcome. Lots of people have joined us on this journey, some are still working with us and some have left, but their contribution is nonetheless valuable.
